The Brigid’s Cross Symbol
This is widely believed to be a Christian symbol and in Irish Celtic mythology is known as a life-giving goddess.
The Cross is woven out of rushes and sometimes straw and some are of the belief that the hanging of these Crosses in their homes not only serves as the welcoming of spring (1st February) but also protects them against evil and danger and particularly fire.
