Campbell family – December 2016
PURE AND ABSOLUTE BLISS....again '
We raved about this wonderfully quaint and old world establishment when we first visited a year ago...we booked in again after our holiday in Mozambique, only to find nothing had changed... On the contrary... It got better!
The rooms are beautifully yet comfortably furnished, with hotel quality pillows and bedding...
The spacious bathroom and shower en suite.... Fit for the Kardashians!!
Kettle boiled and TV on as you walk in....and before the kids even ask...they are presented with not one, but two WiFi codes...they were enthralled!!
Dinner was alikened to something from a masterchef kitchen... Trout for some and tbone steak for others... But Our hosts are extremely flexible... My grandson has oral sensory issues... And is a very picky eater... JACO was wonderful... He especially did three fat pork sausages just for him!
Breakfast was equally delicious!! See the pics!!
JACO, Terry and Cheryl... You just keep outdoing yourselves.
Thank you again for being our oasis x we will certainly be back again and again and again!!
Tony & Ana Bosman – December 2016
Something about the advert and the positive reviews helped us to decide to stay at Shamrock Arms. Not a single part of the advertising was contradicted in real life. The hospitality, friendliness and willingness to please was out of this world. Terry is a genuine down to earth host with such ease and warmth about him. Jaco is not only an amazing chef but an amazing person going the extra mile to ensure your culinary needs are surpassed and Sue is such a shining gem with a gentle homely air about her. The rooms are clean and well-appointed and the bed so comfortable. We so wish we could have stayed a day or two more. A wonderful, value for money destination.
Etienne de Heus – December 2016
Our host Jaco, stayed in contact from booking to check out and was always available to look after our special needs as a family, with 5 being the youngest and 83 the eldest. There are no dining options in town. The lodge restaurant more than compensates with home cooked quality meals. Rooms were spacious with king size bed, fully stocked bar fridge (no surcharge, notmal bar rates) and en suite bathroom. Shamrock Arms is without a doubt the only place I would consider when visiting Waterval Boven again.
Gary & Jayne Swales – December 2016
A fantastic place - the Shamrock Arms stands out in a town just off the beaten track ie just off the N4. Waterval Boven is a reminder of a time gone by, when the town's railway station was one of the busiest in South Africa.
Jaco is a delight - a host who took great pleasure in meeting our every need, especially of the culinary design! Food was prepared with a personal pride not often encountered.
Owners Terry & Cheryl took time out to reminisce, to share memories and dispense with invaluable advice.
A lovely stay - we'll be back!
Gerard & Kelly - December 2016
The Shamrock Arms stands out in this historic, and what was once a bustling town.
I and my Fiancée had travelled back from the Kruger and decided to break the trip here. Now I don't usually rate venues a 5 but the following has to be noted:
1. History and charm of the building adds character and presence to the stay
2.Food by Jaco was awesome (Simple home cooked meals with more than enough skill to make you feel like you dining at a decent restaurant)
3. The bar has a Irish pub feel to it with lots of typical pub paraphernalia (fantastic for drinks before or after dinner).
4. Decent value for money
5. Owners who are directly involved in the running of the B&B. The town has a lot of potential and I would like to see this area prosper. Many thanks to all involved for a lovely stay!
Danie Fourie – November 2016
Although frequently visiting Waterval Boven on business, this was my first time to Shamrock Arms on the recommendation from colleagues. At Shamrock you can be sure of a warm reception, friendly staff, spacious and comfortable rooms as well as exceptional food (hats off to the Chef). I am sure to return next time I travel to Waterval Boven and surrounds. The hike up the mountain overlooking Waterval Boven is a must.
Kobes Aimz – November 2016
One stay wasn't enough for us so we came back twice more!
Not only does the Shamrock itself have a lot of history, the surrounding areas are filled with amazing history. Jaco or Terry were more than happy to point you in the right direction and give you plenty of other interesting things to do during your stay. It's also a wonderful in between stop on the way to/from Kruger National Park. Dinners and breakfasts prepared by Jaco are delicious and evening drinks and chats in the bar with Terry and Cheryl are a must!
